Moskvich will release two new models in 2023

At the end of 2023, Moskvich Automobile Plant is going to launch two new models – a crossover and a sedan. Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, informed TASS agency about it. Recall that in November last year, Moskvich car plant began the mass production of Moskvich 3 crossover (a localized version of JAC JS4), and in December, its electric version called Moskvich 3e (JAC Sehol E40X) appeared in the assembly line of the enterprise. In general, it is planned to produce five models under Moskvich brand - four crossovers and one sedan.

As part of cooperation between AZ Moskvich and its technological partner KAMAZ PJSC, a Plant Development Strategy was developed for a period of up to 6 years. So, at the first stage, in 2023-2024, the production of Moskvich cars will be carried out according to the SKD technology with a gradual increase in the share of localization. At the second stage, from 2024, in parallel with SKD, CKD will begin, and the level of localization will increase by attracting a wider pool of local suppliers with completely Russian components (body parts, power controls, brake systems, etc.).

At the third stage, Moskvich will begin production of Russian electric car from the main Russian components on its own universal platform (electric motor, batteries, gearbox). As for production volumes, it is planned that in 2023 at least 50 thousand cars will be assembled at the plant using the SKD technology, including 10 thousand with an electric motor, in 2024 - at least 100 thousand cars, including 20 thousand with electric engine. At the same time, 50% of this volume will be produced using SKD technology, other 50% - using CKD technology.
