Ministry of Industry and Trade included 12 brands of cars in the list of parallel imports

Ministry of Industry and Trade has expanded the list of goods for parallel imports, as well as car brands that were not previously included in the list. In accordance with the order, Citroen, Dacia, Ford, Genesis, Hino, Hyundai, Isuzu, Kia, Mazda, Opel, Peugeot and Renault cars and trucks can be imported into Russia without the consent of the copyright holder, Interfax reports. Russian Automobile Dealers Association said that they had come up with a similar proposal to reduce the shortage in the mass segment in the Russian market. In turn, Russian dealers plan to bring new for our country cars through parallel imports this spring. Among them there are Dongfeng E70 and HiPhi Z electric cars, as well as Mazda Atenza, Mazda CX-4, Toyota Avalon and electric Avatr 11 models that were not previously officially imported in large quantities. Recall that last spring the government legalized parallel imports under Western sanctions. The list of foreign goods and manufacturers is formed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

As clarified in the department, there are clear criteria for the inclusion or exclusion of a brand from the list. If a company left the Russian market, stopped deliveries and closed its production in Russia, then it gets on the list. If foreign partners fulfill contractual obligations, their products are presented in sufficient quantities on the market and they are supplied to Russian enterprises, the brand is excluded from the list. As Aleksey Starikov, Deputy General Director of Sales of new vehicles at AVILON AG, notes, the market recovery will be facilitated by an increase in the supply of new models to Russia. Customers continue to be interested in models of Chinese manufacturers and novelties supplied through parallel imports. Moreover, for many cars that were not previously presented in Russia, there is an increased demand.
