GAZelle Next with a new turbodiesel went on sale

Gorky Automobile Plant began to equip models of the GAZelle Next family with a new turbodiesel, the production of which is localized at the facilities of GAZ Group foundry. Official prices for cars with the new engine have not been announced yet, so dealers set the cost on their own, writes the portal Wroom.ru. For example, a flatbed GAZelle Next with a GAZ G21 engine costs 3 million 096 thousand rubles in one of the car dealerships, and 3 million 175 thousand rubles are asked for an all-metal van. According to the Autoreview publication, the new GAZ G21 engine is a copy of Chinese Foton Aucan 2.5-liter turbodiesel. Engine power is 150 hp., and torque - 330 or 420 Nm, depending on the version. So far, the engine has been certified according to the outdated Euro-2 environmental standard. Recall that in recent years commercial vehicles of the GAZ brand have been equipped with imported Cummins ISF turbodiesels with a volume of 2.8 liters.

This engine is produced in China, but Cummins itself is American, so after the events of 2022, the supply of engines was in the “risk zone”. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in January 2023, Russian GAZ dealers began the sales of the city version of the GAZelle NN, which, following Sobol NN, received a single-tire. In addition, in November of the previous year, GAZ presented a promising electric modification of the GAZelle e-City minibus with a capacity of 16 passengers, the mass production of which is planned to begin in 2023 for Mosgortrans and further for a number of other regions.
