The car market of Uzbekistan showed a record growth in 2022 - by 87%

According to the Center for Economic Research and Reforms of Uzbekistan, the number of primary and secondary registrations of passenger cars in the country in 2022 showed a record increase - by 87% to 1.4 million units. In other words, it almost doubled the figures of the previous year. Primary registrations of passenger cars in Uzbekistan were over 312 thousand units, which is almost one and a half times higher than a year before. There were sold 1.1 million vehicles in the secondary market, which is 2.4 times higher than in the previous year.

Thus, the secondary market in 2022 is 3.5 times higher than the market for new cars. Such a significant increase in the secondary market may be due to the fact that from January 1st, 2022, car fees were canceled when registering the sale of cars. Previously, only the fee to the Republican Road Fund for used vehicles ranged from 6% to 11% of the basic calculated value for each horsepower, and depended on the age of the car.
