The share of electric vehicles in the Russian market reached 1% in February 2023

In the last month of winter, the share of electric vehicles was exactly 1% of the total number of new passenger cars sold in Russia. Such data were given by the experts of "AUTOSTAT" agency. Despite the low level of sales of electric cars in our country, the achieved result is a record one. For comparison: a year ago, in February 2022, the share of electric vehicles in the Russian market was only 0.3%.

According to JSC PPK*, 550 new electric vehicles were sold in Russia last month, which is 90% higher than in February 2022. In total, for the last two months, 909 electric vehicles were sold, which is 61% higher than in January-February of last year. In the February model rating, the domestic electric sedan Evolute i-PRO (117 units) was the leader, accounting for 21% of all sold electric vehicles. In second place by popularity among Russians there is Volkswagen ID.4 (82 units), Tesla Model Y is the third one (59 units). The top five also included Voyah Free (42 units) and Volkswagen ID.6 (29 units). The top 10 also includes Evolute i-JOY (26 units), BMW iX (19 units), Hongqi E-HS9 (16 units), Skywell ET5 (15 units) and Zeekr 001 (15 units). It is worth paying attention to the fact that 7 out of 10 listed models are new items that have appeared in the Russian market quite recently. And two models, apparently, belong to the domestic brand Evolute.
