Kaliningrad Avtotor plant will test the technology for replacing an internal combustion engine (ICE) with an electric engine in cars that have already been in operation in the spring. Izvestia newspaper was informed about it by the founder and main owner of the holding, Vladimir Shcherbakov, who, according to him, is talking about the launch of a re-enging program for the existing car fleet in the Kaliningrad region. Avtotor has signed contracts with companies using re - enging technology in China and Korea. Now the innovation and technology center of the plant is finalizing these design solutions to bring them to the production stage, Mr. Shcherbakov said. Test re-equipment will be on Korean car models from the fleet of Avtotor itself.

But re-enging, in principle, can be carried out on cars of any model, regardless of the manufacturer and year of manufacture - the technologies allow this to be done, the company stressed. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, Avtotor plans to produce a "pilot" lot of a new electric vehicle of its own design in the fourth quarter of 2023, and in the first quarter of 2024 to begin industrial production of new items. Avtotor's long-term plans include the production of a wide range of electric vehicles targeted at various market segments. Already in 2023, it is planned to launch 7 new plants, investments in which will be more than 5.7 billion rubles (100 million Euros).

These enterprises plan to produce electric vehicles and auto components, including the production of robotic equipment, electric engines, traction batteries, inverters, subframes, wire harnesses, the production of ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems, plastic products, plastic components, the production of bumpers, seats, exhaust systems , driver assistance systems, etc. Non-ferrous casting and machining will be also organized at the production site.
