LADA Niva SUV will receive special versions with powerful engines

LADA Niva SUV will soon receive new petrol engines, which will become available for the model as part of a limited series. As AVTOVAZ's press service informed Autonews.ru portal, the 106-horsepower engine is new only for LADA Niva, and this is a 1.6-liter 16-valve engine familiar from LADA Priora. Power unit with a capacity of 126 hp is planned to be produced at Lada Sport enterprise, where a 1.8-liter engine with a capacity of 145 hp was previously produced for LADA Vesta Sport based on a standard 122-horsepower engine.

Sports versions of LADA Niva will be equipped with a standard transmission, while AVTOVAZ expresses confidence that it will cope with the increased power. Recall that a 1.7-liter gasoline engine developing 83 hp is installed on the LADA Niva Legend serial SUV and 129 Nm of torque. The car is equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system with the ability to lock the center differential and switch on a reduction gear range.
