Avtotor plans to start the production of commercial vehicles

Kaliningrad Avtotor plant is going to launch the production of small trucks and light commercial vehicles. This was announced by Governor of Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov in his Telegram channel; however, he did not specify what brands of commercial vehicles would be produced. Recall that in January 2023, Avtotor began mass production of cars of the Chinese brand Kaiyi. The first model was a C-class sedan called E5, which will go on sale in the first quarter of this year. Avtotor's investments in the modernization of the production line for the Kaiyi E5 production were more than 100 million rubles. Then Kaiyi lineup in Russia will be replenished with the compact crossovers Kaiyi X3 and X3 Pro, and in the middle of the year - the flagship X7 Kunlun. In addition, Avtotor is actively negotiating cooperation with at least two other automakers from China.

According to unofficial data, we are talking about BAIC and Dongfeng. As Valery Gorbunov, chairman of the board of directors of Avtotor Holding, previously reported, in 2023 Kaliningrad plant plans is going to produce from 70,000 to 100,000 vehicles, of which 30,000 will be Kaiyi vehicles.
