AEB: Russian car market fell by 62% in February 2023

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia fell by 62.1% in February to 41,851 vehicles. According to the results of two months of 2023, Russian car market was 74,350 vehicles (-62.5%), according to the data of Association of European Businesses. Meanwhile, as the experts of "AUTOSTAT" agency reported with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*, the Russian market volume of new cars in February was 56 148 units, which is 43.4% lower in compare with the same month of last year. Since the beginning of the year, 101,378 passenger cars have been sold in Russia, which is 45.2% lower than in January-February 2022.

Leadership in the market is held by the domestic brand LADA – Russians bought 21,558 of these cars last month (+13.6%). Among foreign cars, the most popular is Chinese brand Chery, the result of which was 6833 cars (an increase of 2.2 times). The third place in the sales ranking is occupied by Haval with 5039 sold cars (+56.9%). Geely is the next, the models of which were chosen by 3257 buyers (+78.4%). Kia cars were sold in the amount of 3170 units, which is 74.8% lower than last year.

The TOP-10 of leaders of the Russian car market in February also included Hyundai (2544 units, -74.6%), EXEED (2093 units, an increase of 3.3 times), OMODA (1822 units), Toyota (1438 units, -80%) and UAZ (720 units, -28%).
