Boris Titov, Commissioner for the Protection of Entrepreneurs' Rights under the President of Russia, Chairman of the Russian-Chinese Committee for Friendship, Peace and Development, announced it. "Chinese cars, against the backdrop of the departure of Western manufacturers and the problems of the domestic auto industry, are filling the Russian market. But it happens chaotically, unsystematically. There are barriers that prevent it from developing more efficiently," said Mr. Titov, cited by the Finmarket agency. According to him, Association plans to develop work with Russian consumers. Its most important issue is to attract investment in the production of cars in the territory of the Russian Federation. At the end of 2022, 121.8 thousand new cars of Chinese brands were purchased in Russia. According to experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" with reference to the data of JSC "PPK" *, this figure is a record for the history of the presence of automakers from China in the Russian market. In compare with 2021, the volume of purchases of Chinese cars grew by 7%, and they were the only ones who turned out to be in the black.

And given the fact that the market fell by 59%, the share of "Chinese" grew from 7.5% to 19.4% for the year. At the same time, only Russian and Korean brands (29.4% and 19.5% respectively) are above them, while European (18.3%) and Japanese (12.4%) are already lagging behind. Chery remains the most popular Chinese brand in our country for the second year in a row. So, in 2022, Russians became the owners of 39.3 thousand new cars of this brand - 2% lower than a year ago. The second place was again taken by Haval (34.1 thousand units; -7%), and Geely (26.7 thousand units; +8%) is in the third one, as before.

Experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" noted that these three brands accounted for 82% of all new Chinese passenger cars purchased the last year. On the fourth place of the rating there is EXEED (12.1 thousand units), which showed the best market growth (4.5 times) among all "Chinese". Changan finished the top five (2550 units; -34%). This is followed by JAC (1727 units; -3%), Great Wall (1476 units; +18%) and FAW (1405 units; -31%). The OMODA brand (1239 units) immediately occupied the ninth position, the car sales of which started only in October. The results of the rest of the Chinese brands were less than 500 units, and GAC was among them in the TOP-10 (487 units; -45%).
