Iranian cars SAIPA and Iran Khodro undergo certification for Russia

Iranian automakers SAIPA and Iran Khodro are preparing to enter the Russian market, and now their cars are undergoing certification. This was reported to RIA Novosti by the official representative of Ministry of Industry, Mines and Trade of Iran, Omid Ghalibaf. According to him, Iran Khodro sent one of its vehicles to Russia as a sample for certification, after which it will contact private companies from Russia to conclude a supply agreement. Meanwhile, SAIPA has already signed a distribution agreement with the Russian company Best Motors on the supply of cars to the Russian market, according to the Telegram channel of the Russian trade mission in Iran. It is planned to supply cars of three SAIPA models to the Russian market. Earlier it became known that it will be Saina and Shahin sedans, as well as Quik hatchback.

As Russian Ambassador to Tehran Alexei Dedov said earlier, Iran Khodro plans to supply a lot of 2,000 cars to Russia, while SAIPA intends to sell more than 20,000 cars per a year in our country. According to him, Russia and Iran are negotiating on the prospects for joint production of cars and components for them. Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of Avtodom Group of Companies, says that the prospects for Iranian cars are not obvious yet - it is necessary to import and test demand for them. But at the same time, they will become an obvious competitor for the domestic AVTOVAZ both in terms of price and characteristics. And if there are political agreements, then it will not be easy for AVTOVAZ in the market with all the problems with components.
