Used electric car market decreased by 10% in January

Unlike the market of new electric vehicles, which grew by 30% in January 2023, experts of AUTOSTAT analytical agency, on the contrary, recorded a fall in the segment of used electric cars. So, according to the agency, in the first month of the year, Russians purchased 567 used electric vehicles, which is 10% lower than in January 2022.

More than a half (53%) of used electric car market belonged to Nissan brand products. In quantitative terms, it was 302 units. And about one in five sold used electric vehicles was Tesla (111). Hyundai also managed to enter the TOP-3 leaders (41 units). Porsche (17 units), BMW (16 units) and Volkswagen (14 units) also crossed the threshold of 10 units. The most popular model in the secondary market of electric cars in January 2023 was the former leader - Nissan Leaf (301 units). The second place in the model rating is occupied by Tesla Model 3, with 57 sold units. Then Hyundai Kona (41 units), Tesla Model S (25 units) and Porsche Taycan (17 units) followed. The experts decided to see in which regions more used electric cars were purchased the last month.

It is curious that the top three of leading regions remained the same as in 2022. Moscow took the first place in January 2023 (86 units), which accounted for more than 15% of this market. Krasnodar Territory (48 units) remained the second one, and Irkutsk region (37 units) was the third one. The TOP-5 of regions also included Moscow region (34 units) and St. Petersburg (28 units).
