Chinese cars have become the most popular in Russia for the last week of February

The last week of February (the 8th in a row in 2023) was marked by the leadership of Chinese brands in the new passenger car market in Russia. This is reported by the experts of agency "AUTOSTAT" with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*. Thus, for the period from February 20th to February 26th, Russians purchased 4,663 new passenger cars of Chinese brands, which is 41.6% of the total. The second place was occupied by domestic cars (4552 units) with a share of 40.7%. Recall that the "Chinese" were already leaders of the Russian market - in the 1st and 2nd weeks of this year, and for the next five weeks this title was held by domestic brands.

However, if we consider the brand structure, then the leader is the domestic LADA (4298 units), the share of which in the second week of the year was 38.4%. It is followed immediately by four Chinese manufacturers - Chery (1580 units), Haval (1202 units), Geely (644 units) and EXEED (495 units). At the same time, the last of them got into the TOP-5 for the first time, overtaking Korean brand Kia (434 units). In addition to them, the top ten included OMODA (404 units), Hyundai (316 units), UAZ (216 units) and Toyota (211 units). The results of other brands were less than 150 cars.

TOP-10 most popular models of the Russian market according to the results of the 8th week are domestic and Chinese cars. LADA Granta again excels here, followed by the LADA Niva Travel SUV. The best foreign car was crossover Haval Jolion. LADA Niva Legend, OMODA C5, Chery Tiggo 7 PRO, Haval F7x, Geely Coolray, Chery Tiggo 7 PRO Max and Chery Tiggo 8 PRO Max are also included in the rating.
