AVTOVAZ proposes to subsidize more actively NGVs

AVTOVAZ proposes to set a separate limit for passenger cars in the state program for subsidizing vehicles running on natural gas fuel, as their price is lower in compare with commercial vehicles, and program volumes are chosen by trucks and buses. This was stated by AVTOVAZ President Maxim Sokolov at a recent meeting on the development of the gas motor fuel market, the Finmarket agency writes. According to him, in January 2023, AVTOVAZ began the sales of LADA Granta sedan on natural gas fuel. The plans for 2023 are to produce 3 thousand such vehicles, but the company is ready to increase the production by at least 3 times.

However, this depends on solvent demand, which is provided by programs to support and subsidize vehicles running on gas motor fuel. President of AVTOVAZ noted separately that the discount for a car running on gas motor fuel is 115 thousand rubles, but without it, the equipment is not in demand. The company also proposes to increase funding for the state support program, since the 2.7 billion rubles allocated for it in 2023 will be "clearly not enough." Recall that the first production LADA with a methane gas-cylinder unit was LADA Vesta CNG, launched on the market in July 2017. LADA Largus CNG station wagon expanded the range of LADA gas engines in April 2019. And in January 2023, sales of a dual-fuel modification of the LADA Granta sedan began. Small-scale production of LADA methane vehicles is carried out by Togliatti company ATS-Avto.
