The market of new electric vehicles grew by 30% in January 2023

In January 2023, Russians purchased 359 new electric vehicles. This was told by the executive director of the agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Udalov. If we compare this figure with the level of January 2022, then it turns out to be 30% higher. On the other hand, the achieved result is inferior to the December one (528 units), which remains a record one.

About a quarter (24%) of all new electric cars purchased in January came from the German brand Volkswagen, which corresponds to 86 units. The same market volumes were recorded for the domestic brand Evolute and American Tesla (62 units each). The TOP-5 also included Chinese Voyah (25 units) and BYD (20 units).

In the model rating, Volkswagen representative is also the leader - the ID.4 electric crossover (56 units). Evolute i-PRO sedan was slightly behind it with 53 sold electric cars. Next are Tesla Model Y (42 units), Volkswagen ID.6 (30 units) and Voyah Free (24 units). Thus, in addition to Tesla, the remaining four models are new in the Russian market of electric vehicles. And this is its hallmark today - a wide variety of brands and models. Many of them appeared in the market quite recently: the production of Russian Evolute electric cars started in the autumn, and foreign cars come mainly from China or through parallel imports.
