The executive director of the agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Udalov spoke about the main changes that have taken place in the market of new passenger cars. So, in January of this year, premium cars accounted for only 3% of the total, while a year ago this figure was 9%. The share of the mass segment, on the contrary, increased from 91% to 97%. Sergey Udalov believes that the premium segment currently exists due to parallel imports. Legal entities began to buy new cars more often. Their share increased from 19% to 21%. Accordingly, for individuals, it decreased from 81% to 79%. Sergey Udalov drew attention to the high share of purchases of cars by legal entities under new brands. For example, for Moskvich and Evolute, this figure exceeds 70%.

So far, these are mainly dealers and distributors who buy cars for further resale and for test drives. What body types do Russians prefer? Station wagons account for 64% of the market today (versus 59% in January 2022). In second place there are sedans, the share of which fell from 25% to 19%. Hatchbacks finished the top-3 - their share increased from 12% to 14%. In the market of new passenger cars in Russia, the share of “diesel” continues to fall: if in January 2022 it was 7.7%, now it is 4.1%.

First of all, this is due to the reduction in the share of the premium segment, which operates mainly on this type of fuel. At the same time, the share of cars with gasoline engines is growing - from 90.5% to 93.9%. It also increased for electric cars - from 0.3% to 0.8%.
