Iranian SAIPA will bring three models to Russia

SAIPA, which is the second largest automaker in Iran, at the end of January signed a distribution contract with Lucky Carensi, which became the official distributor of Iranian brand cars in Russia and Belarus. Quik hatchback, as well as Saina and Shahin sedans will be the first to appear in the market - these models are currently undergoing certification tests, and they should go on sale in three months, the AV.by portal reported. So, Shahin is a C-class sedan based on the Toyota B platform, which also underlies the IKCO Tara. Under the bonnet of the car there is a 1.5-liter turbo engine with 112 hp, which works in conjunction with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The cabin has a multimedia system with a 7-inch screen and climate control.

The second sedan, Saina, is built on the upgraded SAIPA platform from Kia Pride. It is shorter than Shahin by about 20 cm and is equipped with a naturally aspirated 1.5 liter engine with 87 hp. The third model, called Quik, is a hatchback less than four meters long. Under the bonnet, it has the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine as Saina. In terms of “technique”, the hatchback is similar to other cars of the brand, but the equipment is rich: electronic stabilization system, cruise control, blind spot monitoring and other assistants.

Andrey Olkhovsky, General Director of Avtodom Group of Companies, says that the prospects for Iranian cars are not obvious yet - it is necessary to import and test demand for them. But at the same time, they will become an obvious competitor for the domestic AVTOVAZ both in terms of price and characteristics. And if there are political agreements, then it will not be easy for AVTOVAZ in the market with all the problems with components.
