AEB: Russian car market fell by 63% in January 2023

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia fell by 63.1% in January to 32,499 vehicles, according to data of Association of European Business. Meanwhile, as the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" reported with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*, Russian market volume of new cars was 45,231 units last month, which is 47.4% lower in compare with the same month of last year. Leadership in the market is held by the domestic brand LADA – in January, Russians purchased 17,635 of these cars (+8.8%).

Among foreign cars, the most popular was Chinese brand Chery, the result of which was 5518 cars (a 2-fold increase). The third place in the sales ranking was occupied by Haval with 4116 sold cars (+44.8%). Geely is the next, the models of which were chosen by 3465 buyers (+96.2%). Kia cars were sold in the amount of 2295 units, which is 80.5% lower than last year. TOP-10 of leaders of the Russian car market in January also included EXEED (1807 units, an increase of 4.1 times), Hyundai (1542 units, -82.8%), OMODA (1187 units), Toyota (992 units, -84.7%) and Renault (714 units, -92%).
