KAMAZ started the assembly of localized K5 generation trucks

KAMAZ started the production of KAMAZ-54901 mainline tractor on a new component base, independent of deliveries from unfriendly countries. According to the production plan, in February, 272 trucks of the new generation K5 will roll off the assembly line of the enterprise, among which more than 70 units will be manufactured using components localized in Russia and friendly countries, the press service of the automaker reports.

Recall that KAMAZ, which, like other domestic automakers, faced a massive withdrawal of foreign suppliers and foreign localized partners from the market: supplies of almost the entire range of used foreign components were stopped. First of all - electronics, gearbox components, engines, axles, exterior elements, etc. Initially, KAMAZ planned to return to full-scale production of new generation trucks from February 2023 and to produce about 500 K5 trucks monthly by the end of the first quarter.

As Yury Gerasimov, First Deputy General Director - Executive Director of KAMAZ, explained, due to the fact that KAMAZ-54901 tractors have undergone significant modernization and become more technologically advanced, a certain reconfiguration of the conveyor and logistics is required. At the moment, production is being adjusted for the new model, but this process is complicated by the fact that the conveyors of the plant are loaded with the production of equipment of other generations, which is also in high demand.

The task is to first reach the rate of 18 K5 trucks per day, and then increase it to the planned indicators of the business plan. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in 2023 KAMAZ plans to produce 10.6 thousand K4 and K5 generation trucks. Basically, we are talking about the latest K5 line, but vehicles of the K4 generation will also be available. These will be vehicles assembled from the remnants of components.
