LADA Vesta cars almost ran out at Russian dealers

Russian dealers have mostly sold out LADA Vesta cars produced at the LADA Izhevsk enterprise in the spring of last year. Deliveries of the model, which will now be produced at the main AVTOVAZ site in Tolyatti, are expected in March-April, market participants informed RIA Novosti agency. According to them, it will be an updated version of LADA Vesta NG, but so far it will be equipped with a manual transmission. According to the industrial strategy of AVTOVAZ, adopted in August 2022, the transfer of LADA Vesta production to the Togliatti site is carried out in order to ensure the utilization of AVTOVAZ capacities and ensure the production rate of the model, which is sufficient to meet demand.

According to Denis Reshetnikov, the head of the dealer direction of the Fresh Auto car dealership network, the transfer of production of the flagship LADA Vesta to the plant in Tolyatti is logical, as it is based on the desire of the automaker to provide the Russian car market with affordable domestic cars. Also, the transfer of production will allow AVTOVAZ to reduce production and logistics costs. Recall that in February 2022, LADA Izhevsk plant began production of the updated LADA Vesta. About 600 new parts and components were used in the restyled model, investments in the project were about 7 billion rubles. In early August, the last lot of 240 LADA Vesta NG vehicles, produced from the remaining components, rolled off the assembly line of the Izhevsk enterprise. Thus, the production of the flagship LADA model at the plant in Izhevsk has been completed, and now its production will be resumed at the main AVTOVAZ site in Togliatti.

According to AVTOVAZ, the project to produce a model on the B0 line will quickly pay off and reach profitability at the end of next year. At the end of 2022, 32,790 LADA Vesta cars were purchased in Russia, which is 71.2% lower than a year ago. As a result, the flagship model of AVTOVAZ took the second place in the rating of the most popular cars in Russia after LADA Granta, the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" reported with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*.
