Sollers will restart the plant in Vladivostok in August 2023

Sollers, which last December bought Mazda's stake in a parity joint venture with the Japanese automaker, will restart the Vladivostok plant in August 2023. This was announced by the governor of Primorsky Krai Oleg Kozhemyako, wrote the Prime agency. Recall that in early November 2022, Mazda announced its withdrawal from the Russian market and the transfer to the Sollers group of its share in a parity joint venture for the production of Japanese brand cars at the Mazda Sollers Manufacturing Rus plant.

The deal was made for a symbolic cost of 1 euro and includes an option for the Japanese automaker to buy out a stake in the joint venture during the next 3 years. In connection with the withdrawal from the Russian market and the transfer of a share in the business, Mazda Motor will suffer a loss of 12 billion yen (82 million dollars).

According to Mazda, after the cessation of supplies of components to Mazda Sollers plant in March and the suspension of the joint venture at the end of April, the company continued negotiations with Sollers group, but did not see the possibility of continuing business in Russia. In turn, Sollers said that the company had already developed a plan to restart the plant in Vladivostok for the production of cars of other brands. So, in 2023, the company will launch the production of crossovers of the middle price segment. Recall that this plant produced Mazda CX-9 full-size crossover, Mazda CX-5 crossover and Mazda6 sedan.
