Prototype of electric car "Atom" will be presented in April-May


The first prototype of Russian electric vehicle Atom, in which head of KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin and businessman Ruben Vardanyan invested, will be presented in April-May 2023. This was reported to the TASS agency by Igor Povarazdnyuk, CEO of the Atom brand, according to whom the first prototype will be used to test the functionality of human and machine interfaces, and in the autumn full functional prototypes will be released, which will be created to test all vehicle systems. The first copies will go on sale in 2025. Earlier it became known that Kama Company expects to attract investments in the amount of $150 million.

According to RTVI sources, 20 million of these funds are planned to be spent for the purchase of an idle Ford plant in Naberezhnye Chelny. It is planned to establish the production of electric vehicles on a full cycle, including welding and body painting. The production of stamped parts is supposed to be transferred to the enterprise of the Turkish company Coskunoz in Yelabuga. According to the plans, four models of electric cars will be developed on one platform: a 2-door urban Duo, a Family, a taxi and a commercial vehicle for delivery services.

All four models will have a range of 500 km on a single charge. Maximum speed is up to 170 km / h. In addition, Kama has already reached preliminary agreements with Rosatom, according to which it will supply batteries for electric cars, the production of which is planned to be launched at a future plant on the territory of the Baltic NPP in the Kaliningrad region.
