Avtotor may start the production of BAIC X3 and X35 crossovers

Kaliningrad Avtotor plant can launch the production of Chinese crossovers BAIC X3 and X35. According to the Russian Automobile Telegram channel, citing its sources, today the company has organized a test assembly of both models, and the mass production of BAIC X3 and X35 will start in a maximum of 4-5 months. The X3 model will receive a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with 116 hp. The X35 crossover is equipped with a 150-horsepower turbo engine. Both cars will be equipped with CVTs. The drive is provided only front. Recall, earlier it became known that Avtotor is very likely to start the production of the budget sedan Kaiyi Xuandu.

The company accidentally "lit up" this model in one of its news reports, but the information is not officially confirmed. As the governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov previously reported, Avtotor entered into agreements with three Chinese companies and resumed car assembly in December 2022. According to him, Avtotor has the capacity to produce up to 100,000 cars in 2023. The names of the company's new partners were not disclosed, but industry sources say that among them there are the Chinese state-owned automaker BAIC, as well as Chery divisions.

In addition, Avtotor plans to start the production of electric vehicles and batteries for them in 2023. At the new production site, the construction of 8 plants is being completed, investments in which will be more than 5.7 billion rubles (100 million Euros).
