More than 197,000 used vehicles were cleared by Vladivostok customs officers in 2022, which is 72% higher than in the previous year. A sharp jump in demand occurred in June 2022 - 15 thousand cars were imported through the Vladivostok customs. Every month their number increased and reached a peak value in November - 28 thousand cars, the press service of the Vladivostok customs informs. As noted, the main volume of imported used cars is occupied by the Japanese auto industry - Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Honda, Subaru and Suzuki, a smaller number are cars from South Korea such as Hyundai and Kia.

According to Denis Migal, General Director of the Fresh Auto automotive marketplace, Japanese cars traditionally have high liquidity, which means that they can later be sold even more profitably than they were originally purchased. Another plus of Japanese cars is that today they are easier and more profitable to import into Russia than cars from Europe. In this regard, last year the demand for right-hand drive "Japanese" increased by 30 - 40%.

According to the data of the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", the secondary market volume in 2022 was 4 million 864.7 thousand cars, which is 18.8% lower than a year ago. At the same time, the undisputed leadership among foreign cars is retained by Japanese Toyota, the result of which amounted to 542.2 thousand units (-17.3%).
