05 julymore infoIn January - June 2021, 870,749 new passenger cars and LCVs were sold in Russia. This is 36.9% more than for the same period in 2020. Experts of AUTOSTAT agency decided to study the results of the automotive market in the first half of the year in more details.
Opening Auto (auto business unit of Opening Bank) and the analytical agency AUTOSTAT conducted a joint survey of the market of new passenger cars in Russia and determined its financial capacity* at the end of November 2022. According to the results of the survey, in the last month of autumn, Russians spent 97.4 billion rubles for cars. This is 10% higher than a month before (in October - 88.7 billion rubles), but 60% lower than in November 2021 (244.2 billion rubles). At the same time, the costs of residents of the Russian Federation increased for all brands, except for Japanese and American ones. And almost half of all the money went to the "Chinese". In total, 47.2 thousand new cars were sold in November, which is 7% higher than in October (44.2 thousand units). The share of premium cars in the structure of the financial capacity of the market continues to grow.
In the last month of autumn, the inhabitants of our country bought 989 new cars of the premium segment (1% lower than in October), spending 8.6 billion rubles (+14%) for this. Thus, premium cars share in the cost structure grew from 8% to 9% over the month. But share of cars in mass segment again decreased - from 92% to 91%. Their sales volume in November was 46.3 thousand units (+7% compared to October), and the purchase costs - 88.8 billion rubles (+9%). Despite the growth of financial capacity in the market as a whole, individual brands show its decline.
If we consider by country origin, then Chinese, Korean, European and Russian brands show costs growth, while Japanese and American brands show a decrease. In November, Russians spent most money for Chinese brands cars - 47.6 billion rubles, or 49% of the total. And this is 25% higher than in October. A fifth of the funds were spent for Russian-made cars (19.7 billion rubles; +15% in compare with October), the sixth - for "Koreans" (16.6 billion rubles; +1%), and the ninth - for "Europeans" (10.4 billion rubles; +4%). Cars from other countries cost much less. So, in November, 3 billion rubles were spent for Japanese - 56% less than a month earlier, and for the “Americans” - 154 million rubkes (-22%).
Since Chinese and Russian brands showed positive dynamics higher than the market average, their share in the structure of financial capacity increased. It increased from 43% (in October) to 49% (in November) for the "Chinese" and for domestic brands - from 19% to 20%. At the same time, the share of “Japanese” decreased most noticeably (from 8% to 3%). It is also worth noting that Russian brands keep the leadership by volume, their car sales were 22.7 thousand units in November (the share is 48%). “Chinese” are the second one (16.1 thousand units; 34%), “Koreans” are the third one (5.1 thousand units; 11%).
