The share of cars in the premium segment in 2022 was 7%, although a year before this figure was 10%. This was informed by the executive director of the agency "AUTOSTAT" Sergey Udalov. Accordingly, the share of the mass segment grew from 90% to 93%. Last year, the share of legal entities in the market of new passenger cars in the Russian Federation grew by 5 percentage points. If in 2021 it was 19%, then in 2022 it reached 24%. Thus, the share of individuals fell from 81% to 76%. The share of legal entities, according to Sergey Udalov, has grown due to corporate sales. In particular, taxi and car sharing fleets were replenished. Most often, buyers preferred cars in the station wagon. The market share of such vehicles was equal to 59% (in 2021 - 54%).

Sedans were the second ones, their share decreased from 28% to 25%. In third place there are hatchbacks with 13% (in 2021 - 12%). Gasoline cars remain the undisputed leaders of the Russian market. In 2022, they accounted for 91.6% of the total. This is one percentage point higher than the same result in 2021. But the share of "diesels" for the year fell from 7.8% to 6.6%. According to experts, this happened largely due to the reduction of the premium segment. At the same time, the market share of electric vehicles grew from 0.1% to 0.5%. Also, the specialists of the agency "AUTOSTAT" said that the structure of the market by the origin of brands has seriously changed the previous year. Here it is especially clear to make a comparison between December 2022 and December 2021.

So, in the previous month of last year, Russian and Chinese brands accounted for almost three-quarters of the market, although a year ago they owned just over 30% in total. Moreover, the share of “Chinese” increased most of all in December – almost 4 times. If in December 2021, 82% of all purchased new cars were produced in Russia, then by the end of December 2022, their share was only 59%. Accordingly, the market share of imported cars grew from 18% to 41%. At the same time, the official import from distributors is 29%, and the so-called "parallel import" - 12%.
