AVTOVAZ, together with its partner ATS-Auto, has begun the production and sales of a dual-fuel modification of the LADA Granta sedan equipped with methane gas-cylinder equipment. This technical solution has been successfully tested on the Vesta and Largus families, and now, for the first time in LADA practice, LPG is installed on the most affordable model, AVTOVAZ press service reported. LPG is mounted on LADA Granta sedans in all configurations with air conditioning. LADA Granta CNG uses both gasoline and compressed natural gas methane as fuel. The LPG design is safe: a fuse and a high-speed valve built into the gas cylinder exclude the possibility of its rupture and uncontrolled gas release in case of damage of the fuel equipment. The cylinder is designed for 80 liters of gas and is located in the trunk, while the volume of the luggage compartment is 340 liters.
The average gas consumption is 6.1 cubic meters per 100 km. The car filled with gas and gasoline is able to travel 1000 km without refueling. The surcharge for the modification of CNG in compare with the gasoline version will be 45 thousand rubles. At the end of 2022, LADA Granta became the best-selling AVTOVAZ model in the Russian market - its sales, according to the manufacturer, were 95,879 vehicles (-14%). Recall that the first production LADA with a methane gas-cylinder unit was LADA Vesta CNG, launched in the market in July 2017. LADA Largus CNG station wagon expanded the range of LADA gas engines in April 2019. Small-scale production of LADA methane vehicles is carried out by the Togliatti Company ATS-Avto. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, the state will subsidize about a half of the expenses of businesses and citizens for the transfer of transport from gasoline to gas (methane).
The new procedure implies a doubling of subsidy standards from 2022 - from the current 24% to 48% of the total cost of work. According to the government of the Russian Federation, the decision will stimulate the transfer of vehicles from gasoline to methane and support the demand for this type of fuel among business and citizens.
