AVTOVAZ may start the production of the e-NEVA electric car at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg

AVTOVAZ plans to start the production of several LADA car models at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg in the second half of 2023. This was announced by AVTOVAZ President Maxim Sokolov, emphasizing that the new site for the plant has a high potential, and the company is ready to consider additional partner projects for it, for example, for the production of the e-NEVA electric car created in St. Petersburg by the Concern VKO Almaz-Antey. As Mr. Sokolov said earlier, AVTOVAZ plans to produce LADA cars at the former Nissan plant that are more expensive than the main line, at least three models will be produced at the start. It is planned to stage-by-stage production of various models of C and D segments, including crossovers and sedans.

AVTOVAZ is currently in active negotiations with several potential production partners. According to the head of AVTOVAZ, the negotiations are at the final stage, and, perhaps, it will not even be one Chinese automaker. In 2023, it is planned to be produce up to 10 thousand cars at the former Nissan plant. Let us recall that the decision to transfer the enterprise under the control of AVTOVAZ was made by the company's shareholders with the support of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation and the authorities of St. Petersburg.
