KAMAZ will increase the investment in development by a third in 2023

KAMAZ plans to allocate 20 billion rubles for the implementation of the investment program in 2023. Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, announced it, by noting that despite the difficulties of the outgoing year, the implementation of the investment program did not stop. Moreover, next year the company will increase the investment program by a third in compare with 2022 (about 15 billion rubles), the press service of the automaker reports. Among the directions for the development of KAMAZ in 2023 there is the resumption of production of the KAMAZ-54901 mainline tractor and K5 generation KAMAZ heavy dump trucks on a new component base. Work will continue on the development of hydrogen transport, unmanned vehicles, as well as the development of a line of electric vehicles and the implementation of other projects relevant to the enterprise (to develop bridges and increase engine production capacity).

Recall that KAMAZ, which, like other domestic automakers, faced a massive withdrawal of foreign suppliers and foreign localized partners from the market: supplies of almost the entire range of used foreign components were stopped. First of all - electronics, gearbox components, engines, bridges, exterior elements, etc. The production of KAMAZ electric buses is also reflected in the next year's investment program. The departure from the European component base had a severe impact on this segment, too, but all tasks have been solved, the new model has already passed tests. In February 2023, KAMAZ plans to start the production of updated electric bus with an increased share of Russian components and components from friendly countries, and the company will participate in the next Moscow tender with a new electric bus.

According to Mr. Kogogin, the capital plans to purchase at least 500 electric buses per a year. For the current year, KAMAZ closed the contract by handing over the last 33 electric buses to Moscow in mid-December.
