Among the directions of KAMAZ development in 2023 there is the resumption of production of the KAMAZ-54901 mainline tractor and K5 generation KAMAZ heavy dump trucks on a new component base. Work on the development of hydrogen transport, unmanned vehicles, as well as the development of a line of electric vehicles and the implementation of other projects relevant to the country will continue. Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, spoke about this. Earlier it was reported that KAMAZ plans to sell about 50,000 vehicles in Russia in 2023 and increase its market share, which is currently at 44%.
As noted, the introduction of sanctions most of all influenced the release of a new model range, which turned out to be more dependent on foreign suppliers. But by August, the company solved the difficulties with the supply of components, up to this point using stocks and not stopping production. In recent months, KAMAZ has been producing at least 100 and 150 vehicles of the K4 and K5 generations, respectively, on a monthly basis. As Sergei Kogogin said earlier, large-scale work has been carried out to localize components, and from February 2023 it is planned to ensure the full-scale production of K5 generation trucks using components that do not depend on supplies from unfriendly countries. As a result, KAMAZ intends to produce 500 vehicles of the K5 generation every month, with a further increase in the production plan to 700-1000 vehicles per month. "Our goal in this direction is to produce 10 thousand vehicles of the K5 generation by the end of 2023.
At the same time, our global goal is to return to our development strategy, to develop a line of K5 vehicles, the efficiency and fuel efficiency of which have been confirmed in real operating conditions. The resumption of production will be phased," said the head of KAMAZ. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in 2022 KAMAZ plans to keep the production of trucks at the level of last year's results - 44.1 thousand vehicles - or slightly exceed them. According to the results of 11 months of this year, 39,849 trucks rolled off the KAMAZ assembly line, which is 0.9% higher than the figure for the same period of 2021.
