Nizhny Novgorod enterprise Shvabe-SpetsAvto, which is a subsidiary of the state corporation Rostech, has developed an ambulance based on the LADA Niva Travel SUV. The vehicle received the name "Medical Service M1". The company says that the cabin is rapidly transforming from a conventional passenger to a medical-purpose interior. In the passenger version, such LADA Niva Travel is capable of carrying four passengers, and in the medical version, two passengers and one patient on a stretcher or one passenger on a wheelchair.

Transformation of salon is capable to be made by one person. Under the bonnet of LADA Niva Travel, a 1.7-liter gasoline engine is installed, developing 80 hp and 127.4 Nm of torque. The car is equipped with a permanent all-wheel drive system with the ability to lock the center differential and switch on a reduction gear range.

The vehicle has a fully armored body and internal elements made of steel of a special grade.
