Chinese cars will be produced in the former Nissan plant

At the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg, which was transferred to the management of AVTOVAZ, the production of Chinese cars under the LADA brand can be arranged. It became known that negotiations are currently underway with potential partners, but there are no final decisions on the model range.

As noted, it will not coincide with the models produced at the plant in Tolyatti. Kirill Soloveichik, the head of St. Petersburg Committee on Industrial Policy, said that Smolny and the Ministry of Industry and Trade are discussing a potential model range with AVTOVAZ, but did not provide more detailed information. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister - Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said that it was planned to start the production at the former Nissan plant in St. Petersburg the next year. Recall that on October 11th, Nissan's executive committee approved the sale of its Russian assets to FSUE NAMI, subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

As a result of the transaction, 100% of Nissan's assets in Russia (managed by the legal entity Nissan Manufacturing Rus) were transferred to NAMI for the implementation of future passenger car production projects. In turn, AVTOVAZ will manage the former Nissan car plant in St. Petersburg. Recall that the production of cars at the Nissan plant in St. Petersburg began in 2009. At present, the production capacity of the plant allows the production of up to 100 thousand cars per a year. Until recently, the company produced three models - Nissan Qashqai, X-Trail and Murano crossovers, the production of which was stopped on March 14th due to interruptions in the supply of components.
