High car prices have become one of the main factors that caused a drop in demand in the Russian market. At a recent meeting with the government, Russian President Vladimir Putin urged automakers to make cars more accessible to consumers. The experts interviewed by the agency "AUTOSTAT" told how realistic it is for manufacturers in the current market and economic conditions to reduce prices for their products. According to the press service of Haval Motor Rus, in the field of pricing, the company takes into account a number of factors, including the market situation, the level of demand, and exchange rate fluctuations.
According to Denis Migal, General Director of the Fresh Auto automotive marketplace, cars are currently becoming more expensive due to interruptions in the supply of components for their production, changes and lengthening of delivery routes, changes in suppliers - from direct European manufacturers to Asian counterparts, which are delivered to the Russian Federation longer. Parallel imports also do not reduce the cost of spare parts and finished cars, especially considering that their production at Western auto plants has also declined due to the difficulty of supplying the necessary components, including electronics from China and metals from Russia. Therefore, the only way to make cars cheaper for Russians is to organize a full cycle of their production in our country.
Then Russia will not depend on the terms and cost of components, respectively, taking into account the strengthening of the ruble and lower prices for metals, the process of manufacturing new cars will be made cheaper. Yulia Ovchinnikova, development director of the Klyuchavto auto holding, believes that a decrease in car prices will be possible if domestic automakers close the need for auto components and find alternatives in the domestic market. It is important to keep in mind that products manufactured in Russia are not always cheaper than those supplied from abroad, especially when it comes not only to localization, but also to the restoration of the production of high-quality auto components that the consumer is used to.
Measures of state support will be able to speed up the process of adaptation of Russian automakers and, as a result, stabilization of prices for their products.
