KAMAZ localizes the cab of K5 generation trucks by March 2023

KAMAZ plans to localize fully the production of the cab of the new generation K5 trucks by March 2023. This was announced in an interview with the head of company, Sergey Kogogin. We are talking about the localization of interior details, the cabin frame of the K5 has already been localized. Currently, KAMAZ produces trucks of three generations at once: the “classic” K3 with its own cab, as well as K4 and K5 with licensed Mercedes-Benz cabs. In March, after the imposition of sanctions and the withdrawal of the German Daimler Truck AG from the Russian market, KAMAZ had difficulties with the production of trucks of the last two generations. As Sergei Kogogin said earlier, the company does not plan to abandon the promising line of K5 cars, in the development of which a lot of money and time have been invested.

In addition, KAMAZ top management is taking a number of measures to organize the supply of components for the K4 line so that the assembly of these vehicles in demand on the market on the KAMAZ conveyor continues at least until the end of 2022. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, in 2022 KAMAZ will keep the production of trucks at the level of the previous year's results - 44.1 thousand vehicles - or slightly exceed them. But the production plans for 2023 are not disclosed at the enterprise. It is noted that now there is a great demand for all-wheel drive vehicles. Next year, their share in the total production of KAMAZ products will increase, and it is planned to increase the rate of assembly of the main assembly line.
