Moskvich Automobile Plant has launched the mass production of Moskvich 3 crossovers. In January 2023, the novelty should go to dealers in Moscow, and in March, sales will begin throughout Russia. By the end of this year, the company plans to produce about 600 vehicles, including 200 electric vehicles. "In 2022, the SKD assembly of the Moskvich 3 car and electric vehicles will be launched. The task for the near future is to establish small-scale assembly processes with the involvement of local suppliers by the end of 2023.

The next step will be the creation of our own universal platform for a domestic electric vehicle, the start of production of which is scheduled for the end of 2025," the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade said. Recall that earlier Rosstandart issued a Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) for two car models that will be produced at the Moskvich automobile plant. One of the documents is issued for a car called "Moskvich 3", which is a version of the JAC JS4 compact crossover. The second VTA concerns the Moskvich 3e model; this is a copy of the JAC iEVS4 electric car, which has an electric power plant instead of a traditional engine. Crossover "Moskvich 3" is equipped with a gasoline 1.5-liter turbo engine with a capacity of 150 hp (210 Nm), working in combination with a CVT automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual transmission.

The electric version of the crossover called "Moskvich 3e" will receive a 68 hp electric engine. The power reserve of the car is 410 km. As for production volumes, it is planned that in 2023 at least 50 thousand cars will be assembled at the plant using the SKD technology, including 10 thousand units with an electric engine.
