Moskvich car plant will begin the first assembly of cars this week, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said. “Next year, I hope, the plant will reach the parameters of the volume of work, comparable to the period when Renault was there. And in two or three years, we plan to launch our own platform, the Russian platform for electric vehicles,” added the mayor of the capital. Recall that earlier Rosstandart issued a Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) for two car models that will be produced at the Moskvich automobile plant.
One of the documents is issued for a car called Moskvich 3, which is a version of the JAC JS4 compact crossover. The second VTA concerns the Moskvich 3e model; this is a copy of the JAC iEVS4 electric car, which has an electric power plant instead of a traditional motor. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, by the end of this year the company plans to produce about 600 vehicles, including 200 electric vehicles.
Next year, the production volumes will grow to 50,000 cars, among which 10-20,000 will be with an electric engine. The full production cycle with welding and body painting is scheduled for 2024. It is planned to produce five models under the Moskvich brand: four crossovers and one sedan.
