AvtoVAZ intends to develop new all-wheel drive crossovers

AvtoVAZ is considering the creation of LADA models with a new all-wheel drive system, but such cars may not appear earlier than in three - four years. This was announced by AVTOVAZ President Maxim Sokolov on the sidelines of Transport Week 2022, and the volume of investments in the development of new all-wheel drive LADA models is estimated at 30 billion rubles. Today, all-wheel drive system is equipped with SUVs of the LADA Niva family. At the same time, according to experts, the technology used is outdated.

The head of AVTOVAZ also said that the company is studying Iran's proposal for the joint production of cars. In addition, AVTOVAZ is also studying other proposals for cooperation with countries "friendly" to Russia, in particular India and China. As AUTOSTAT previously reported, the Board of Directors of AVTOVAZ approved the creation of two new LADA models - a crossover on the LADA Vesta platform, as well as a separate family of the "B" segment on the global platform, which should be installed on the conveyor in 2024-2025.
