The government of Kazakhstan has adopted a resolution valid until February 1, 2023, which gives manufacturers the right to produce cars that are not equipped with ABS, ESP, airbags and with a reduced environmental class. However, in order to obtain approval for the production of cars not equipped with these systems, the manufacturer is required to conduct a separate certification of the model, which, despite the absence of certain components, must be safe.
This condition is provided in the decision of the EEC Council, the press service of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MIIR RK) reports. Thus, today no model can be produced in Kazakhstan without meeting the safety requirements. Therefore, manufacturers continue to comply fully with the technical regulations of the Customs Union “On the safety of vehicles”. According to the Kazakhstan Auto Business Association (AKAB), for the first nine months of 2022, 78,441 vehicles of all types were produced in Kazakhstan, which is 23.4% higher than in the same period of the previous year.
“The parts supply situation continues to impact the global automotive industry. Despite this, Kazakhstan is increasing the volume of domestic production. In general, in 2022, the production of cars is expected to grow by at least 7% in compare with 2021,” comments Anar Makasheva, Vice President of AKAB.
