AEB: Russian car market fell by 63% in October of 2022

Sales of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in Russia in September fell by 62.8% to 45,228 vehicles. According to the results of 10 months of 2022, Russian car market was 502,474 vehicles (-60.8%), according to the data of the Association of European Businesses. Meanwhile, according to the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" with reference to the data of JSC "PPK" *, the Russian market volume of new cars in October 2022 was 43,308 units, which is 63.1% lower in compare with the same month of the previous year.

At the same time, experts note that in relation to September this year, the Russian car market also shows a decline (-2.5%). Since the beginning of the year, 518,011 passenger cars have been purchased in Russia, which is 59.6% lower than in January-October of 2021. Leadership in the market is held by the domestic brand LADA – the previous month, Russians bought 17,113 of these cars (-24.1%). For the first time among foreign cars, the most popular was the Chinese brand Haval, the result of which was 4316 cars (+8.4%). Thus, Chery dropped to the third place of the rating with 3,838 sold cars (-16%). This is followed by Kia, the models of which were chosen by 2738 buyers (-83.2%). Hyundai cars were sold in the amount of 2720 units, which is 78.6% lower than the previous year.

The TOP-10 of leaders of the Russian car market in October also included: Geely (2483 units, -11.7%), Renault (1459 units, -78.6%), EXEED (1163 units, an increase of 5.7 times), Toyota (1085 units, -88.2%) and UAZ (812 units, -55.4%).
