The market of new passenger cars fell by 63% in October


At the end of October 2022, Russians bought 43,308 new cars, which is 63.1% lower than in the same month of the previous year. This is reported by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" with reference to the data of JSC "PPK"*. It is also worth noting that in relation to September, this result was lower by 2.5%. Thus, the monthly growth of the Russian car market was stopped in October. Recall that in May the market reached its “bottom” (27,458 units), but in the next four months its volumes grew, by reaching 44,398 units in September. Now there has been a slight decline.

Almost 40% of all new passenger cars purchased in October were the domestic brand LADA, which is 17,113 units, which is 24.1% lower than a year ago. Chinese brand Haval (4,316 units; +8.4%) moved up to the second place, the result of which is almost four times lower than that of the leader. The third position is occupied by another "Chinese" - Chery (3,838 units; -16%). In addition to them, Korean Kia (2,738 units; -83.2%) and Hyundai (2,720 units; -78.6%) were in the TOP-5. In the model rating, LADA Granta keeps the leadership confidently, which accounts for every fourth car. So, the previous month, Russians bought 10,978 cars of this family.

The best foreign car was Haval Jolion crossover, which sold 3,049 units. The third place was taken by LADA Niva Travel SUV with 2,229 units. The crossover Chery Tiggo 7 PRO (2,134 units) finished the fourth, and SUV LADA Niva Legend (1,926 units) rounded out the top five. Experts also noted that for 10 months of 2022, the volume of the Russian market of new passenger cars was 518,011 units. This is 59.6% lower than the result of January-October of the previous year.
