Dmitry Pronin, General Director of the Moscow Automobile Plant Moskvich, in an interview with the Moscow 24 TV channel, confirmed to journalists the information about the current production plans of the enterprise and spoke about the requirements for the dealer network, which is now at the formation stage.

At this stage, most of the plant's workers are still in forced downtime, receiving 2/3 of their wages, and the company's management is solving issues related to the launch of the conveyor. The plans, as Pronin confirmed, together with Asian partners, will launch the assembly line before the end of this year and assemble about 600 cars on it, a third of which will have electric filling.

“Next year, 2023, we will produce 50,000 cars, among which 10,000 will be purely electric. And in 2024 we are building a plan to produce 100,000 cars, among which at least 20,000 will be electric...”, he said. Why is the focus on electric cars? The head of the plant recalled that Moscow has long been using advanced technologies in transport: “We have electric scooters, electric bicycles, electric buses. The city has a lot of competencies in terms of electric transport in general. And electric cars "Moskvich", produced in Moscow, fully fit into this concept. In the future, we are confident that we will be able to create such a cluster of automotive component base in Moscow that the Moskvich plant will use in production.”

The director also confirmed that the plant is working on creating its own vehicle platform. It is being developed from the ground up, planned to be released after 2024, and determined to be an electric car only. At the moment, the company is preparing not only for the start of production, but also selects dealers for future sales. Applications have already ended.

The plant is going to open 40 dealer centers in 23 largest cities of the country. In the selection criteria for applicants, the management of Moskvich includes not only quality, convenience, but also the availability of a charging infrastructure. This is a prerequisite, as the future of the plant is connected only with electric transport.
