The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation is ready to exclude Nissan from the list of parallel imports: it will happen when after-sales service for brand cars is established in the country at the appropriate level, the press service of the ministry reported. Recall that earlier the executive committee of Nissan approved the sale of its Russian assets to FSUE NAMI, subordinated to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The deal involves the sale of 100% of Nissan's assets in Russia (managed by the legal entity Nissan Manufacturing Rus) to NAMI for the implementation of future passenger car production projects. The transferred business, including Nissan's production and research centers in St. Petersburg, as well as the sales and marketing center in Moscow, will operate under the new name. As a part of the agreements, AVTOVAZ will take on the tasks of warranty and after-sales service for Nissan cars in the Russian market, as well as the supply of spare parts to the dealer network of the Japanese brand.
"Nissan dealers across the country now have about 2,000 vehicles. Given the current demand, I think that this will be enough until mid-2023. I wouldn't expect any discounts. Rather, as in the case of Renault, car prices, on the contrary, will go up - after all, the last cars of the legendary brand are available. As for used Nissan, they have always been in price due to the high loyalty of our consumer to the Nissan brand. Now the owners of these cars will try not to sell them longer in order to be able to continue driving a Japanese car. Let this be a stereotype, but it is still strong in our mentality. And I do not believe in Nissan's deliveries for parallel imports. This is not such a niche product that queues lined up for it.
