Chinese brands have become leaders by the number of car dealers in Russia

Most dealers in our country now have Chinese brands. Such data were obtained by the experts of the agency "AUTOSTAT" during the corresponding monitoring conducted in mid-October 2022. Meanwhile, as experts remind, before that, the leaders by the number of car dealers were European brands. So, as of mid-October, the total number of official dealers* of Chinese brands in Russia was 830, and for the previous three months it has increased by 90. The "Europeans" now have 811 dealers - 20 less than in mid-July.

The interests of Japanese brands in our country are represented by 635 companies (-18 dealers in the 3rd quarter, among which 14 moved into the category of service partners), Russian - 428 (+6), Korean - 400 (-1), American - 37 (-19, among which 16 went into service). According to monitoring data, as of mid-October of this year, there are 3,141 car dealers in Russia. As for Chinese brands, Chery has the most dealers among them - 165. Geely and Haval also have more than a hundred dealerships (123 and 118, respectively). Changan has exactly 100 of them. FAW (97) is very close to this mark. EXEED has 81 dealers, JAC has 65.

Each of the remaining "Chinese" has less than 50 dealerships. It is also worth noting that for the previous three months, Geely (+19 dealer contracts), EXEED (+18), Chery (+16), Changan (+14) and FAW (+11) have most noticeably increased their dealer networks. Experts explain the rapid growth in the number of dealers of Chinese brands by the fact that they do not support anti-Russian sanctions and continue to work in our market, having sharply increased their share in it. "Dealers are actively moving to work with the "Chinese". And among them there are a lot of those who previously collaborated with European brands.

It is logical that the Russian auto retail relies on those companies that remain on the market, namely the Chinese ones, the number of dealers of which will continue to grow," explains the head of the press service of the AUTOSTAT agency, Azat Timerkhanov.
