In 2008 Japan increased the car export to Russia 51 percent

In January-October 2008 Japan exported to Russia 516,363 new cars of all types, up 51 % from the same period of last year. For the first 10 months of this year 506,162 passenger cars, 8,522 trucks and 1,679 buses were imported from Japan to Russia. Such data were received by the analytical agency "AUTOSTAT" in the Japanese association of auto manufacturers (JAMA).
According to Sergey Tselikov, the director of analytical agency "AUTOSTAT", about 9 % of the total export volume of new cars from Japan falls on Russia which exceeded 5.8 million units for the first 10 months of this year. The car market of the USA remains the main objective for the Japanese export of new cars. Its share is a little more than 30 % of total export volume. According to the expert this direction will suffer most of all in connection with crisis.
Sergey Tselikov notes that for the Japanese car industry the Russian car market is now the second important one after the USA. Australia is on the third place which share is a little more than 6 % of export. Further there is Canada (3.6 %), Arab Emirates (3.1 %), Saudi Arabia (2.9 %), China (2.4 %), Germany (2.2 %), the Great Britain (1.9 %) and Oman (1.9 %). Also shares from 1.4 % to 1.7 % of the Japanese auto export fall on such countries as Ukraine, France, Mexico, Israel and the republic of South Africa.
The expert notes that in connection with crisis next year the car export from Japan may decrease approximately one third. Such export directions, as the North America and Europe will suffer most of all. Asia as well as Middle and Near East will suffer from crisis least of all. Next year export of new cars from Japan to Russia may decrease 25-30 % though partially it will be compensated for the account of Toyotas local assembly in St.-Petersburg, Sergey Tselikov considers.
