Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant in St. Petersburg, where the most popular foreign cars Hyundai Creta, Hyundai Solaris and Kia Rio were produced, will be mothballed in the nearest future. According to the Russian Automobile telegram channel, citing its sources, the remaining cars, among which there were about 1.5 thousand, have already been taken out of the territory of the enterprise, including those that did not pass the final stage of acceptance. At the same time, there is no information about the dismissal of employees yet - it may appear on October 27 – 28th, as it was at the end of each month for the last six months that the plant management announced the extension of the downtime, which began in March due to a break in supply chains for the supply of components and continues to this day .
At the request of the agency "AUTOSTAT", the press service of "Hyundai Motor CIS" refused to comment on this information. It is worth noting that so far we are talking about the conservation, and not about the complete closure of the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus plant. The enterprise has been operating since 2010, it organizes the production of cars in a full cycle with stamping, welding and body painting. The production capacity is 220 thousand cars per year. The total investment in the plant project exceeded $1 billion, the number of employees is about 2,600 people.
In addition to the Russian market, Hyundai plant in St. Petersburg supplied all of its models to Kazakhstan, Belarus and other countries of the near abroad.
