Avtotor began the preparations for the production of new models

Kaliningrad Avtotor plant has begun the work on the conveyor reconfiguring and preparing for the launch of the production of new brands of cars. The company plans to launch the production of several such models by the end of 2022, the press service of the automaker reports. Recall that at the end of September, Avtotor completed the production of Hyundai and Kia cars from the available stocks of components. Previously, the plant in Kaliningrad also produced BMW cars, but their production was suspended in early March due to the geopolitical situation and the disruption of supply chains.

According to the founder of Avtotor, Vladimir Shcherbakov, if the situation changes the company is ready to resume the contract assembly with these partners. In 2023, Avtotor also plans to start the production of electric vehicles and engines for them. At the new production site, the construction of 8 plants is being completed, investments in which will be more than 5.7 billion rubles (100 million euros). As the governor of the Kaliningrad region Anton Alikhanov previously reported, in 2023 Avtotor expects to reach a production level of 50-70 thousand cars and increase the production in the future. At the end of 2021, the Kaliningrad plant produced more than 177 thousand vehicles, which is 13% higher than a year ago.
