In November foreign car sales in Russia decreased 15 percent

The day before the Association of the European business (B) summed up sales of foreign cars in Russia for November 2008. For the first time sales of new foreign cars have shown the negative dynamics for the last four years compared to the same period of last year. So, last month 136,554 cars of foreign production were sold on the Russian market, down 15 percent from November 2007. In comparison with October of this year the sales decline is even more significant, down almost 20 percent. Nevertheless, for 11 months there is still positive dynamics, up 31 percent.
It is worth mentioning that sales of two brands from top ten in November turned out to be lower twice than last year"s - the sales volume of Mitsubishi decreased 51 percent and Daewoos sales fell exactly 50 percent down. The sales decline of some other brands is also very impressive: Volvo - down 39 %, Hyundai - down 36 %, Renault - down 32 %, Nissan - down 31 %, Kia - down 29 %.
Nevertheless, the analysts of "AUTOSTAT" note that despite the crisis some foreign brands manage to increase sales. So, in November the sales volume of Toyota grew 23 percent up, Honda - up 67 %, Skoda - up 66 %, Volkswagen - up 26 %, Peugeot - up 92 % and the Italian Fiat even doubled its sales. The stable growth was demonstrated by the premium German brands: Audi (+23 %), BMW (+21 %) and Mersedes-Benz (+16 %). The record sales were shown by the SsangYong brand (+303 %) as well though for the sake of justice it is worth mentioning that sales of this brand began only a year ago.
