KAMAZ opened a test site for new vehicles

On October 1st, a test site for testing new vehicles was opened at the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center. Investments in the project were 1 billion rubles, according to the press service of the automaker. KAMAZ will be able to conduct 80% of tests at this research site. Part of high-speed tests of a car will continue to be carried out at the NAMI test site in the city of Dmitrov near Moscow.

The research site is organized on the territory close to the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center and is intended for testing all newly developed KAMAZ vehicles for handling and stability, for brake tests, reliability tests, external noise tests, and electronic systems tuning control, ADAS systems, robotic vehicles. The length of the site is 770 m. The total area is 16 hectares. Recall that due to the suspension of supplies of imported components under the conditions of external sanctions, the bulk of KAMAZ production is currently made up of Euro-5 class K3 generation trucks.

Nevertheless, the production of vehicles of the K4 and K5 generations also continues, however, the stock of components is the limiting factor in the production. Therefore, today the main efforts of the company are aimed at localizing imported components and working with alternative Russian suppliers. As Sergey Kogogin, General Director of KAMAZ, stated earlier, the task of the enterprise is to start the assembly of K5 vehicles from January 2023 without the participation of foreign partners.
