The ERA-GLONASS system became again the obligatory for imported foreign cars

From October 1st, 2022, when importing cars into Russia, legal entities and individual entrepreneurs must equip them with ERA-GLONASS emergency call systems. To curb the speculative rise in prices for "panic buttons", manufacturers will set the recommended retail price for such devices, the press service of GLONASS JSC reports.

Recall that the temporary procedure for importing cars without equipping them with the ERA-GLONASS system was introduced in May this year. For individuals, the moratorium on the installation of "panic buttons" will continue to operate until February 1st, 2023.

Since 2017, all new cars imported into Russia or sold in the country must be equipped with ERA-GLONASS modules, from which accidents are automatically reported and the exact coordinates of the car are transmitted. To date, almost 9 million vehicles have been registered in ERA-GLONASS.
