Tesla plans to revise its strategy in China

American electric car manufacturer Tesla is reviewing its sales strategy in China, which is the company's second largest market after the United States.

For example, Tesla plans to close several showrooms in large cities and open points equipped with service workshops in less wealthy suburbs. Thus, the company expects to improve the situation with the distribution costs and with complaints from Chinese customers about too long delivery times for cars and spare parts, as well as repairs, the newspaper Kommersant writes.

The new plan includes an increase in the service staff by more than 300 people. According to experts, such Tesla measures are also logical because during the numerous hard lockdowns in China, showrooms with high rents were often idle, and visitor traffic dipped noticeably. In addition, analysts believe that it is better for the American company to pay more attention to after-sales service in order to compete successfully with many Chinese manufacturers of electric vehicles, which are often cheaper than Tesla.

Meanwhile, Tesla has completed a capacity expansion at its Shanghai plant. This will bring the production of Model 3 and Model Y cars at the Chinese enterprise to about 2,200 units per a week, Prime agency reports. Investments in the production capacity expanding were 1.2 billion yuan ($170 million).
